This is a frequently asked question?

What training methods do you use?

I continuously adapt my training approach to incorporate the latest techniques and insights in the field. By understanding the unique needs of each dog and the preferences of their owners, I can create personalized training plans that lead to effective and positive outcomes. My commitment to ongoing education ensures that I remain informed about innovative training methods, allowing me to provide the best guidance possible. Will it be expensive to train my dog?

An investment in your dog's training serves as a lifetime insurance policy. An untrained dog may encounter various issues throughout its life, leading to destructive and inappropriate behaviors that can be costly for the owner. By investing in training, you establish clear communication with your dog regarding acceptable and unacceptable behaviors. Our aim is to offer affordable and dependable services to support all dog owners in fostering a well-behaved pet.

I think and/or I’ve been told my dog is untrainable?

All dogs can and should be trained, provided they do not have a medical issue or a neurological disorder. It's important to recognize that different training methods work for different dogs. Some trainers may adhere to strictly one approach, potentially leading to a perception that a dog is untrainable. However, a versatile understanding of various training methods allows for more effective solutions when working with different canine personalities and needs. Each dog is unique, and adapting training strategies to fit the individual can yield positive results.

How early should I start training my new puppy / adult dog?

You cannot start too soon. Dogs are learning in every moment they spend with you. When you just got a new puppy or dog, you have the opportunity to build up the relationship, set up the rules and boundaries that will govern the dog. Establishing these boundaries early helps create a stable environment for your new companion.

Before acquiring a puppy or adult dog, consider your lifestyle. Think about your living situation, available time for training and exercise, and any other pets you may have. Research different breeds to find one that matches your activity level and family dynamics. For instance, active individuals may thrive with energetic breeds, while those with a quieter lifestyle might prefer a more laid-back dog.

Establishing a routine, using positive reinforcement for desired behaviors, and being consistent with your expectations are essential steps. This foundation will help your dog understand what is expected and create a respectful bond between you both. Remember, every interaction is a learning opportunity for your dog, so approach each moment with intention and guidance.

Will unwanted behavior appear as the puppy grows?

Your puppy is learning what the rules are and what you teach him/her at a young age, and this will stick for a lifetime. However, certain changes will occur as your puppy grows older due to developmental stages. It is important to note that unwanted behaviors won't go away on their own, and these behaviors often start off seeming cute because your puppy is still too small to become a problem.

As your puppy matures, behaviors such as jumping, chewing, or barking can escalate if not addressed early on. Consistent training and positive reinforcement are essential to guide your puppy through these changes. Establishing clear boundaries and expectations will help reinforce good habits and prevent the development of problematic behaviors. Keep in mind that patience and persistence are key during this learning process, and early intervention is crucial for a well-adjusted adult dog.

I have an adult dog that I know very little about his/ her history, can I still train him/ her?

Yes. Understanding a dog's history can be beneficial, but it isn't a requirement for effective training. I am here to assist you during this transition period as you and your new dog become familiar with each other. I will guide you in establishing clear and fair rules, ensuring that your dog feels comfortable and welcomed in their new environment. Together, we can create a positive and supportive atmosphere for both you and your dog.

I love my dog just the way he/she is, but I do not like certain thing he/she does. Will training change my dog's personality?

The answer is no. Training will not change your dog's personality; it will enhance it. Just as humans are born with distinct personalities, so are dogs. Training provides structure and clarity, allowing your dog to understand what is expected of them, ultimately leading to a happier pet.

Dogs do not mind following rules and respecting boundaries; they thrive with guidance and routines. After training, you will still have the same unique dog, but one that is more reliable around guests and manageable during walks. This positive transformation through training fosters trust and improves the overall bond between you and your dog.
